How the clock out time calculator works

  1. 01Enter the time you clocked in.
  2. 02Add your unpaid break in minutes. A 30-minute lunch adds 30 minutes to your day.
  3. 03Enter the hours you need to work. Most shifts are 8.
  4. 04Read your clock-out time. Copy it if you want to keep it.

Why the break matters

An 8-hour shift with a 30-minute unpaid lunch keeps you at work for 8 hours and 30 minutes. The calculator adds the break back in, so the time it shows is the time you can actually leave. If your lunch is paid, set the break to 0.

Clock out time questions

What time do I get off if I started at 8:30 with an 8-hour shift?
With a 30-minute unpaid lunch, 5:00 PM. With no break, 4:30 PM.
What time can I leave if I started at 7 and work 8 hours?
3:00 PM with no break, or 3:30 PM with a 30-minute break.
Does the break count as hours worked?
An unpaid break does not. A paid break does. If your break is paid, enter 0 and the calculator will not add it to your day.
Can I use this for a shift that ends after midnight?
Yes. If your clock-out time falls on the next day, the result says so.
How do I enter half hours?
Use a decimal. 7.5 is seven and a half hours. 7.25 is seven hours and fifteen minutes.
